Implant

Implant is a USC graduate thesis film directed by Ran Li. The story revolves around a woman who suspects her husband of cheating and uses some futuristic tech to spy on his memories. I was brought on board to bring this futuristic world of bionic implants to life. Much of the work took place on the characters eyes. They have bionic contact lenses that not only allow them to see augmented graphics, but also to enhance their vision and zoom in on a target.

Getting a closer look.
Watching a movie inside your eyes.

A number of the shots also involved a small port behind the protagonist’s left ear. This was accomplished with make-up and prosthetics, and I polished it up with VFX and added a blinking LED underneath the skin.

Practical prosthetic with some VFX clean-up and an indicator LED.

I also designed a small LCD screen for the handheld device that is used to spy on the husband’s memories.
